I had to go back and confirm that the book was not written in the 1980's or 1990's is that is how it read. Had the typical virgin heroine and the manhoe hero. What is worse here though is that the hero brings a mistress to the heroine's party, kisses her passionately to test her out and then goes back to the mistress and manhoe ways after deciding that she will do. Of course, being like those earlier Harlequins, the heroine spends years pining because of the kiss and keeping her virginity in tact for him. Puke. Why is it mostly women writers that do such as disservice to women by writing heroines this way? Very sad. The hero fits the stereotypical Harlequin romance old skool hero in other ways too. He was cold, hard & ruthless, never wanting to fall in love because supposedly he was burnt in the past. He makes fun of her and talks down to her including when they finally have smex. She was no prize either. The girl could and did whine. A lot. There was no chemistry between them and by the time they finally had smex it was lackluster. So sorry that I read this book.

Bride In A Gilded Cage Harlequin comics eBook Abby Green Mao Kirisaka Reviews
I enjoyed this story even if both of the main characters could be annoying at times. It also took them a long time to consummate their relationship, so the tension built up very steadily. The story was a good one though and very credible. The dancing angle was a nice, sexy touch.
I like the book, but I didn't love it. Of course, there is the usual misunderstandings that drive a wedge between the main characters, but I felt it went on for too much of the book. It seemed a waste of time. I recommend the book, but with reservations.
Nice read.. i felt her pain being attracted to someone knowing you'll never be loved back. And how people's outer appearances cam be misleading. Wish there was more of their steamy tango both dance and ahem ;D
This was recommended in the Romance Forum, under the topic of "Bone-Melting I Love Yous..." and let me tell you - great read!
The story is about Isobel and Raphael and takes place in Argentina. Isobel's family is elite, and Raphael's father plots for entry to the elitest, his way of doing it is an arranged marriage between Isobel and Raphel, coordinated by his Father and her Grandfather. While they both grew up with silver spoons, Isobel was never a "society miss" and she dreads the arranged marriage. She meets Raphael once when she is 18, when he tells her that he will marry her when she is 21 according to the betrothal agreement and doesn't see her again until then.
Their first two meetings were less than ideal, but sparks were flying, and while Isobel was a virgin the passion was definitely there. Raphael declares that this will be a marriage of convenience, and he doesn't want love, but he wants Isobel and the marriage to work for business reasons (marriage makes him more stable looking for business partners). Isobel fights the marriage entirely fleeing to Paris until he comes for her on her 21st bday. Eventually, they're battling each other, and later themselves... there is an incredibly poignant moment and of course the HEA.
If you want the poignant moment http//www./forum/romance/ref=cm_cd_et_md_pl?_encoding=UTF8&cdForum=FxM42D5QN2YZ1D&cdMsgNo=93&cdPage=4&cdSort=oldest&cdThread=Tx25JLFSBCPC2SQ&cdMsgID=Mx1ZIXIO2RBV1P7#Mx1ZIXIO2RBV1P7
Enjoy!
I know sine people will probably complain that this story moved too slowly, but I enjoyed the pace. The character development was thoughtful. I liked the raw honesty between Rafael and Isobel. The ending was romantic and left you feeling good.
It took me awhile to read. To me there was no real storyline, every issue could have been solved with a simple conversation. She was indeed too whiny. She knew his conditions of the marriage, what was the holding back on the sex about. I just got fed up. The 2nd instalment of the series was much better.
A Forced wedding arranged while they were just still kids by their grandparents- Isobel Miller and Rafael Romero have been promised to each other for years. Rafael who is the super rich alpha male playboy is finally forced to meet Isobel on her 18th birthday. He was shocked that Isobel was beautiful and not the spoiled brat he expected, and all of a sudden he started thinking this arrangement wasn't going to be so bad after all.
Isobel on her birthday is forced to meet Rafael her future husband, because the arrangement is that they marry on her 21st birthday. She however has no intention of marrying Rafael no matter how rich, gorgeous, and sexy he is. The sparks fly between these two when Isobel tells Rafael off and he pulls her into his arms and kisses her...it's the kiss that the two could not forget in three years.
I don't want to tell you the whole story but it's one of the best romances I have read in a longgggggggggg time! Ms Green did a wonderful job with this romance. Many things are going on in this book and she ties everything nicely in the end, I just LOVED it. I could not put it down and when I did put it down I couldn't stop thinking about it. I loved Rafael and Isobel was wonderful too. I recommend this book highly and I will read it again.
